3. Our university's initiatives

Our university implements the following measures and strives to establish a crisis management system for overseas travel.

① Implementation of risk management orientation before traveling abroad

At the Hirosaki University Office for International Relations, for students and faculty members traveling overseas, orientations are given by outside lecturers, and individual orientations are also conducted by staff members of the Office for International Relations.

② Formulation of a crisis management manual

In order to be able to respond appropriately in the event of an emergency when traveling abroad, the university has formulated the "International Exchange Crisis Management Response Manual" that stipulates pre-departure guidance, post-departure emergency response and contact system, etc.

(XNUMX) Overseas student crisis management system OSSMA (OSMA)

(OSSMA = Overseas Students Safety Management Assistance)
At our university, we have introduced the Overseas Student Risk Management Service System (OSSMA) to prepare for troubles such as incidents and accidents at the destination when traveling abroad for study abroad, training, or other programs at our university.
By using OSSMA, you can receive assistance when traveling abroad that is not provided by overseas travel insurance.

For students studying abroad through study abroad programs (Hayabusa College, Taiwan training, etc.) recruited by the International Collaboration Headquarters, "Tobitate! Study Abroad JAPAN", and students taking the "Introduction to Overseas Training" course in the Department of International Horticulture and Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences, please contact OSSMA. Participation is mandatory. (You cannot subscribe for personal sightseeing trips, etc.)
*If you wish to join OSSMA for overseas travel other than the above, please contact the International Relations Headquarters Support Office at least one month before your travel.

OSSMA assistant service example
●EAJ (OSSMA Helpline) = Call center available in Japanese and English 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
●Responding to daily consultations (lost passport, etc.), safety confirmation (regularly/as needed)
●In the event of an accident or illness, dispatch of local response staff, hospital arrangements, transport arrangements, travel accommodation arrangements for parents, embassy liaison service, introduction of international lawyers, arrangement of interpreters.
●Transportation arrangements to Japan, dispatch of Japanese doctors and nurses, treatment of corpses
● Arrangements for receiving hospitals after returning home, support for insurance claims

OSSMA is an assistant service, not an overseas travel insurance.
In order to receive OSSMA's assistance service, it is a requirement that you have a separate overseas travel insurance.
