[Mr. Sawada] Japanese garden

On Monday, July 7st, students studying Japanese food culture and green tourism visited a Japanese garden in Hirakawa City.After learning about the meaning of the garden, we made sekimori stones and experienced pruning under the guidance of a gardener.

On July 1st students studying Japanese Food Culture and Green Tourism visited Hirakawa City to learn about the Japanese Gardens which are a focal point of the tourism promoted in the area. Students learned about the significance of the layout of the Japanese gardens they visited and made sekimori -ishi, or barrier stones which are used to indicate parts of the garden which should not be entered. They finally tried their hand at trimming trees shaped in the traditional style, under the supervision of professional gardeners.
