[Mr. Sawada] Hands-on learning at the Kawasaki Dye Factory

 On June 6th (Friday), students learning about crafts from Tsugaru had a hands-on learning experience at the Kawasaki Dyeing Factory.
 After learning about the indigo plant and the process of indigo dyeing, I dyed a handkerchief and had indigo tea while waiting for it to dry.Looking at the old clothes on display, I deepened my understanding of the origin of dyeing in this area.

On June 7th students studying the crafts of the Tsugaru region went to experience indigo dyeing at Kawasaki Dye Works . They learned about the indigo plant and the process by which the leaves are prepared for dyeing. the Edo era and tasted indigo tea while they waited for them to dry. They also looked at antique clothing on display, and learned more about the origins of the craft.
