Founded in 1434, the University of Catania is the oldest national university in Italy. There are approximately 45,000 students in 17 departments of agriculture, economics/business, physics/astronomy, law, architecture/civil engineering, electrical/electronics/information engineering, mathematics/informatics, biology/geology/environmental chemistry, bioengineering, chemistry, education, political/social sciences, human sciences, pharmacy, medicine, architecture, foreign languages/literature, 24 research institutes, an Italian language and culture school for foreigners, and Catania High School.

There are three campuses: Catania, Ragusa, and Syracuse. At Catania, we mainly teach academic classes, at Ragusa, we mainly teach multilingual classes, including Italian, and in English (geography, society, literature, art history, English history, etc.), and at Siracusa, we teach architecture.

The University of Catania, which will be the first partner university in Italy, is a comprehensive university, so we can expect not only cultural exchanges such as Italian language and European art, art, history, but also researcher and student exchanges in a wide range of fields.

The Ragusa school has the Humanities Department of the University of Catania and the Special Facility for Foreign Languages and Foreign Literature in Ragusa. In addition to Italian, there are multiple languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, and Japanese, as well as geography, society, literature, art history, and history of English. In addition, there is support in Japanese from the teachers of the Japanese language department at the Ragusa school and tutor assistance by students of the Japanese language department, so even students who are not fluent in Italian can study abroad with peace of mind.Furthermore, many of the students studying Japanese at Ragusa want to study in Japan, so we can expect active exchange programs both in terms of outbound and inbound exchanges.
