World's challenge challenge in Hirosaki 2018 [Application Guidelines]

Overview: What is World's challenge challenge?

 "World's challenge" is about 2015 Global Goals for sustainable development set by representatives of 9 countries in September 193, and students themselves come up with ideas for various issues such as crime, poverty, gender, and the environment. Think about it, make a presentation in English and send it to the world.
 The presentation final competition will be held in June 2018 at Western University in Canada.As a qualifying competition, we will hold “World's challenge challenge in Hirosaki” in March 6, so we are looking forward to the participation of many students.

(1) Qualifications

 Meet all of the following requirements:

  • 1 people per team.
    * However, if you cannot secure 3 people and are interested in even one person, please contact the person in charge below.
  • Participants must be regular students (including international students) who are enrolled in the undergraduate or graduate school of Hirosaki University and will be enrolled at the time of the final competition (June 30).
  • Those who understand the purpose and rules of the tournament and can comply with them.

(2) Method

  • Team member information
  • A global challenge addressed by the team
  • Necessity of challenge, reason for choosing (about 300 words)
  • Content of the challenge, unique solution, etc. (approximately 400 to 800 words)

Presentation and Judging

 Participating teams present 5 to 7 minute presentations on the challenges facing the world today and solutions to those challenges, which are evaluated by the judges.
 Presentations will be judged according to the following criteria.Please be sure to refer to the participants.

Expense

 The university will cover the travel expenses up to 10 yen per student for the teams that have been accepted to participate in the finals in the preliminaries on campus.However, it will not be paid in the case of winning in the final competition.Western University will cover the cost of your stay (accommodation, meals, etc.).

Matters to keep in mind

 Please observe the following matters.

[General matters]

  • Agree that photos and videos taken during the event may be used for publicity purposes at the university.
  • I agree that I have the right to cancel the competition without prior notice to the participants due to the circumstances of this university or the host university.
  • Participant agrees that personal information of participants may be shared within an appropriate scope only with those affiliated with the university or the host university for the operation of the competition.

[Matters when participating in the final round]

  • Travel procedures, etc. must be carried out at your own risk.
  • Be sure to take out overseas travel accident insurance, etc. before traveling.
  • Regarding classes during the dispatch period, please inform the instructor that you will be absent due to this project.
  • As a representative selected from the university, comply with laws, rules, regulations, manners, etc. at the destination.Also, during the period of stay, follow the instructions of the staff of the host university.
  • After returning to Japan, promptly submit the relevant documents necessary for reimbursement of travel expenses.In addition, the report (any form) may be used for public relations inside and outside the university, so the content should be appropriate.
