Admission to graduate school

International students from overseas partner universities who belong to the following graduate schools can apply for tuition fee exemption.
However, students other than long-term students whose enrollment period, excluding leave of absence periods, exceeds the standard term of study are excluded.

Flow of admission to graduate school

In order to enroll in a regular course (for the purpose of obtaining a degree), applicants must take and pass the entrance examination and interview conducted by Hirosaki University.Admission qualifications, entrance examination methods, and entrance examination information for each graduate school are as follows.

○Eligibility

Those who do not have Japanese nationality and who have completed 16 years (master's course) or 18 years (doctoral course) of school education in a foreign country, or those who are expected to complete it by March of the year of enrollment.

In addition, those who are recognized by the graduate school as having the same academic ability as those who have graduated from a university.

○Entrance examination method

Applicants will be selected based on the academic ability tests (written and oral examinations) conducted by each graduate school and academic transcripts.As the examination methods differ depending on the graduate school, please check the website of the Entrance Examination Division or the websites of the Graduate School of Medicine and Graduate School of Health Sciences.

○ How to apply

I.find a supervisor
Before applying to a graduate school, it is a good idea to find an academic advisor who can provide research guidance in your field of study.Check the faculty information of the master's and doctoral courses and contact them directly.

II.Get the application guidelines and application form
You can see the application guidelines on the website of the entrance examination section, the Graduate School of Medicine, and the Graduate School of Health Sciences, but you will need to obtain an application form in order to apply.Each graduate school usually distributes application guidelines and application forms once or twice a year.

III.application
Please send the necessary application documents to the Entrance Examination Division, the Medical Research Group, or the Health Science Research Group by the application deadline.Applications submitted after the application deadline will not be accepted.

* Preliminary examination of application eligibility
Applicants with educational backgrounds other than those required for admission must be screened before applying to see if they meet the eligibility requirements.For details, please contact the Admissions Division or the Educational Affairs Section of each graduate school.

IV.exam
Each graduate school has its own examination date.The entrance exam will be held at Hirosaki University, so please come to Hirosaki University and take the exam.

*Some exams do not have written or oral exams as pass/fail decisions are made based solely on document screening.
