[Destination] Kyungpook National University (South Korea)
[Study abroad period] March XNUMX to August XNUMX
[Type of study abroad] Long-term study abroad at a partner university

Q.What is your motivation for studying abroad?

I had a strong desire to study abroad at least once during my student life, and I wanted to improve my communication skills by coming into contact with people, languages, and cultures in an unfamiliar environment.
The reason I chose Kyungpook University as my study abroad destination was because I wanted to go to a rural area in South Korea, and also because Daegu was a city I had visited once on a trip.

Q.How was the atmosphere of the university and students?

I got the impression that the student was the main subject. In the orientation for international students, the students took the lead in promoting and managing the program, as well as assisting in necessary procedures for international students.Anyway, I thought there were a lot of hard-working students.

Q.How was your accommodation (university dormitory)?

The dormitory is roughly divided into two buildings, the new dormitory and the old dormitory. You cannot choose which dormitory you stay in.I am an older person and lived with a Korean roommate in a room for two.The room has a bed, desk, air conditioner, toilet and shower, and there is a shared washing machine on each floor.

Q.Have you ever had a hard time?

The procedures for opening a mobile phone and a bank account were difficult. It took some time to complete the alien registration card, so I was in trouble because I could not start the procedure immediately. As for mobile phones, it is more useful to have a local phone number, so it is recommended to make a contract or buy a SIM card and use it.

Q.What have you learned through studying abroad?

I strongly felt the importance of connection and communication with people. If you don't send it from yourself, you won't be able to get the help and information you need, and you won't feel happy yourself. There was a lot of frustration when I couldn't convey what I wanted, and I couldn't understand.

 Q.Advice for prospective students

I think it is important to research information about the study abroad destination in various ways in advance and prepare accordingly.
