On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the Hirosaki University Neputa float paraded along the station square course, with international students from the university participating in the procession. The Hirosaki University Neputa float is created and paraded through the combined efforts of students and faculty members. This year marks a milestone year for the Hirosaki University Neputa float, as it is its 60th participation in the festival.
Many international students also participated that day, all wearing matching happi coats.
The sounds of drums and flutes echoed through the town, and as the Nebuta floats advanced accompanied by the energetic shouts of "Ya-ya-do," the international students also joined in with loud shouts, adding to the lively atmosphere of the procession.
Many spectators lined the streets, and the Neputa floats proceeded along the route in front of the station amidst applause and cheers.
For the international students, participating in the Neputa parade provided a valuable opportunity to experience Hirosaki's traditional summer culture and deepen their interactions with the local community.
