Want to delve deeper into Canadian culture? Explore the diverse facets of Canada through literature, art, media, history, and contemporary society.
The "Introduction to Canadian Culture" course at the University of Victoria provides students with a fundamental understanding of Canadian studies, while also offering a critical examination of the connections between Canada's past and present society, as well as the formation of its national identity.
This course is offered online in an asynchronous format, allowing you to learn at your own pace. Classes are conducted in English, providing an opportunity to engage with academic English alongside learning about culture and society. You will also learn the fundamentals of academic skills such as research, critical analysis, and argumentation.
Hirosaki University will subsidize approximately 80% of the tuition fees.

- A basic understanding of Canadian culture and society (literature, art, media, communication)
- A basic understanding of the academic field of Canadian Studies
- Critical thinking on Canadian history, contemporary society, and national identity
- Acquisition of fundamental skills in research, analysis, and academic writing.
*English Requirements: Applicants must meet the English language requirements (CEFR C1 or higher, TOEFL iBT 88 or higher, or Duolingo English Test 120 or higher) and submit the required documents. You need to submit an assignment.

1. Undergraduate or graduate students of Hirosaki University
2. Individuals who are enthusiastic about international exchange and are working to improve their language skills.
3. Those who can cooperate with a survey to be conducted after the completion of the program.
4. Those who attend online classes and actively engage in assignments and other tasks.
