In the first orientation, many important matters such as meal plans, dormitory rules, California law, emergency use of university facilities, visas, etc. will be explained for international students who will start studying abroad from 2023 Spring.
After the orientation in the morning, we will walk around the campus with a senior student guide and confirm the location.
The campus is very large, and each class is in a different building, so it is necessary to be aware of class times and locations.
Also, the most important thing is to explain the application form to have your status as an international student recognized by the U.S. government.If you do not register for at least 12 credits of classes by the deadline and register for SEVIS online, you will be forced to do so. I think this is the most important thing since I will be returning to my country.
After touring the campus, senior students will take me to a nearby supermarket called Target (1.3 miles from the university) to purchase tableware, bedding, food, and daily necessities.
Some dormitories have a kitchen, and some require you to sign up for a meal plan, but in my case, there were 4 people in a room, each with 2 bathrooms, and each person had their own room, with a desk, bed, A chest of drawers is provided.
For those who are thinking of cooking for themselves, there are many things in the kitchen that you don't need to buy, such as dishes, pots, and cooking utensils that your previous roommate left behind. We recommend that you only buy the bare minimum, such as food.
