[Mr. Sawada] Sannai Maruyama Ruins

On April 20th, students studying the crafts of Tsugaru went on a field trip to Sannai Maruyama, a large excavation site that dates back to the Jomon Era.

After taking a tour of the site and learning about the pottery and clay figures that were excavated from it, they tried their hand at creating replicas of the figures.

One highlight of the day was a crane ride that allowed the students to take in the view that the Jomon people are thought to have seen from on top of the highest construction in the settlement.

On April 4th (Sat), students studying Tsugaru crafts headed to the Sannai-Maruyama ruins in Aomori City. After visiting the ruins and learning about the pottery and clay figures made by the Jomon people, I also tried making a clay figurine.
This time, I was able to ride a crane truck and look down on the surrounding area from the same height as the tallest structure built by the people of the Jomon period, so it was a fulfilling day.
