[Study abroad experience] Mr. Masaki Fukuda, XNUMXrd year student in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

[Destination] Thompson Rivers University (Canada)
[Study abroad period] May to December XNUMX (XNUMX months)

Q.What made you decide to study abroad?

When I was a junior high school student, I was not good at English, so I thought about why I had to study English. At that time, I thought that I didn't need English to work in Japan.Even after entering high school, I still felt that I was not good at English, and English classes were painful.

However, after entering university, I had the opportunity to hear from a teacher about studying abroad. The teacher told me that studying abroad would allow me to expand my world.

Q.How is your study abroad destination?

Thompson Rivers University is located in the small town of Kamloops.Kamloops is big enough to live in, if not a big city. There are also movie theaters, shopping malls, and Japanese restaurants. The means of transportation is a bus, but I think it's a very good place if you think of it as an environment for studying and an environment for taking a break.

Q.What left an impression on you?

My friend's host family took me to various activities. Thanks to the host family who owns the boat, I was able to wakeboard for the first time in my life. Also, they took me hiking and went canoeing with me, and I was able to experience things that I wouldn't be able to do in Japan.I also have fond memories of traveling to Ottawa and Niagara just before returning to Japan. Also, participating in volunteer activities and supporting new students was a valuable opportunity for me.
