[Study Abroad Period] August 7th - August 18th, 2017 (2 weeks)
Q. What motivated you to study abroad?
I chose this because my Korean language teacher recommended it, and I wanted to put the Korean I'd learned in class into practice.
Q. What are the classes and daily life like there?
I studied Korean language and culture. My Korean language teacher didn't speak Japanese, but she used gestures, so I was able to imagine what she was saying during class. I think that's something you can't experience in Japan, and it was also a valuable lesson in communicating things through gestures and atmosphere.
The university campus was very large, and there were plenty of shops outside the campus, such as cosmetics stores and restaurants, which was quite different from Hirosaki University. In my free time, I went out to eat with my classmates and did some sightseeing in the city. I also interacted with my Korean buddy.
Q. What left the biggest impression on you?
When I went to Seoul, I rented a hanbok (Korean traditional clothing) and took lots of pictures while walking around Gyeongbokgung Palace. I went to a cafe in that outfit and was able to feel a bit of the atmosphere of the past and present.
Q. A short message
You won't regret going, and it will be a great opportunity to interact with Koreans. Also, since many students from other Japanese universities will be participating, you might have some great encounters. I think it will be a much more enjoyable study abroad experience than you imagine.
