[Interview with international students vol.2] Kim Kishou Kin Kishou (Yanbian University, China)

Kin Kishou, 2nd year, Department of Japanese Language, School of Foreign Languages, Yanbian University

We interviewed Mr. Kin Kishou, who is proficient in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese at Yanbian University in China, where there are many ethnic Koreans.
I have been staying at this university for one year since October this year.
I asked him about his passion for Japan.

―Why did you decide to study abroad at Hirosaki University?

I was originally more interested in Japan than Hirodai, and I majored in Japanese because I like Japanese anime and games. While studying Japanese, I became fascinated by the spirit of craftsmanship, which has recently become a hot topic in China.Japan, a country with a small land area, scarce resources, and frequent natural disasters, has become the foundation of the world in terms of economy and industry. I feel good.
At first, I wanted to live in the city rather than in the countryside, but my teacher suggested that "people in the city are cold, so if you want to improve your language skills, go to the countryside!" I decided to go to Hirosaki University. My parents weren't particularly against studying abroad, they are parents who respect my child's feelings!

Also, I love Osamu Dazai!I especially like [No Longer Human].In fact, I also went to Osamu Dazai Manabi's house. The scenery outside was also good and I was deeply moved.

―What kind of classes do you have at Hirodai?

I chose Japanese Conversation and Japanese Reading Comprehension for my Japanese classes, but I am also interested in international politics and history of the Japanese language, so I am choosing classes that match those interests.
Especially for [International Relations], even though the teacher changed in the third lecture, I really enjoy taking it because of the humor and sense.

―What is life like in Hirosaki?

with students from China

I knew only cities such as Tokyo in Japan, so when I got off at Aomori Airport, I asked, "Where is this place?"Wrong plane? Is it really Japan?I regretted it for a moment.
But after living in Hirosaki, the air is cleaner than anywhere else in China.
Besides, the locals are kind and you can talk to them in many places.

Food is good too.You can eat sashimi every day!In China, fish is rarely eaten raw, and is usually grilled or boiled. Here you can easily buy it at a nearby supermarket.
In China, I ate only salmon, but in Hirosaki I also learned how delicious tuna is.
I also liked the draft beer in the izakaya, China doesn't have draft beer only in cans or bottles.
The only thing I can't accept is tamago kake gohan...

I also enjoy Japanese karaoke

Hirosaki is not cold, but rather warm!In my hometown Qiqihar City (Heilongjiang Province), it drops to -30 degrees, -40 degrees. On the contrary, there is little snow there, so when it snows, I get excited and build snowmen and have snowball fights. It's the first time since I came to Hirosaki that there's been a lot of snow and the roads are inconvenient.

Public transportation in Hirosaki is inconvenient. When I was in China, I used to take taxis everywhere.A distance of 150 yen in China became 1,500 yen in Hirosaki, and I haven't ridden it since then.
I don't know how to ride the bus, so I go by bicycle in the summer and on foot in the winter.

―For those who want to study at Yanbian University

I am currently living in a student dormitory at Yanbian University, which is six hours away from Qiqihar City by high-speed rail (equivalent to Japan's Shinkansen), but food and entertainment are all located near the university, which is very convenient.Prices are also very cheap. As a guideline for the cost of staying for a month... Donburi is about 1 yen, and yakiniku is 150 yen per person even if you eat only meat.
Most of the transportation is by taxi (1/10 of Hirosaki according to the person).
Karaoke is priced per person in Japan, but in China it's priced per room, so if you go with a large group, it's cheaper.A typical room is 1 yen per hour.

The campus of Yanbian University is larger than that of Hirosaki University, with XNUMX soccer fields, XNUMX volleyball fields, and XNUMX basketball fields.Physical education is a compulsory subject for all students, and I chose table tennis from among dozens of subjects.

There are XNUMX cafeterias on campus with XNUMX floors each, and it's so big that I haven't conquered all of them yet!Of course it's cheap and delicious.

Participated in a karaoke competition in a Japanese class at Yanbian University wearing a yukata

You can play the bass too!

-The future of the dream?

We won the school athletic meet!

I have several ideas, and the first is a university professor.I want to become a Japanese teacher in China.Secondly, I would like to find a job that can serve as a bridge between China, Japan and South Korea, which are geographically close to each other. Thirdly, I would like to become a diplomat. For that reason, I am also studying international politics these days.
After living in Japan for a year, I would like to decide whether I can get used to Japan or not.

―For those who want to study abroad

I want to say that you are smart and lucky to have the desire to study abroad.
It's not always about your own country, but once in a while, try to see how the outside world revolves. It's definitely not the world I'm thinking of, and if I'm just in China, my horizons are narrow and my thoughts are short.
Study abroad in Japan and talk to the locals, and talk to international students from other countries to broaden your horizons! !It will definitely help you in the future. Now in the 21st century, in the era of globalization, this kind of perspective is absolutely necessary, so please come to study abroad and enjoy life in Japan and do your best.

Kishou, who has a dream of globalization, still has some time left to study abroad.
Do your best steadily to advance to a dream!
