On December 12th, Professor Sawada invited Mr. Kojin Sasakawa to give a special lecture on the shamisen.
It started with a performance of "Fubuki", and after explaining the structure of the shamisen, they talked about their experience of performing traditional Thai music on the shamisen when they visited Thailand.
At the end, the students had the opportunity to try playing the shamisen themselves, which was a great opportunity to meet professional players.
On December 12th students studying the cultural history of Tsugaru attended a special performance and lecture given by Tsugaru shamisen player, Sasakawa Kojin.
Mr Sasakawa interspersed his performance with lively commentary that deepened students' understanding of the shamisen music that is distinct to this area. A few stayed behind to ask questions and try their hand at beating the strings of his instrument.
