Tsugaru Crafts (Mr. Sawada) Experienced Tsugaru Lacquerware

Students enrolled in the Regional Crafts class experienced creating Tsugaru lacquer ware under the instruction of local craftsmen who are masters of the craft.

On June 6th (Friday), we learned about and experienced Tsugaru lacquerware at the Neputa village of the Tsugaru clan in Hirosaki city, in Mr. Sawada's class.

After a simple lecture, we started by sharpening one of the chopsticks, spoons, and hand mirrors that had already been painted to create a pattern.
